Conversation Search
Search across conversation history with full-text search.
Search lets you find specific messages, code snippets, or topics within your conversation history.
Opening Search
Press Cmd+Shift+F in a conversation to open the search bar, or click the search icon in the conversation toolbar.
Searching
Type your query in the search bar. Results are highlighted in the conversation as you type, with a debounced 200ms delay for smooth performance.
Navigating Results
| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Next match | Enter |
| Previous match | Shift+Enter |
| Close search | Escape |
The conversation automatically scrolls to the current match. A counter shows your position (e.g., "3 of 12 matches").
Search Scope
Search operates within the current conversation. It searches through:
- Your messages
- Claude's responses
- Tool call names and parameters
- Code blocks in responses
If not all messages are loaded (for long conversations), a "partial results" indicator appears to let you know some messages weren't searched.
